ADVICE FROM THE DESIGNER
HAVE A BUDGET IN MIND
Don't SPEND TOO MUCH time trying on a bunch of gowns out of your price range. STAY FOCUSED on your price point so you can spend more time editing down the amazing options you can actually afford. Remember, your dress budget WILL include the gown, FITTINGS/alterations, taxes and shipping fees. plus you WILL MOST LIKELY WANT veil, shoes, lingerie and jewelry which can add up quickly.
START SHOPPING EARLY
IF YOU ARE VERY DECISIVE, You’ll need at least six to eight months to get your gown. HOWEVER, If you're LIKE ME [EXTREMELY picky], PLEASE start looking 8 to 10 months before your wedding. Why so much time? A muslin version of a custom gown is created before the actual dress to guarantee a perfect fit. So give yourself a cushion—if you put dress shopping off for too long, CUSTOM DESIGN MAY NOT BE AN OPTION FOR YOU.
KEEP DRESS CODE IN MIND
You may need to consider religious restrictions when WE DESIGN your gown. If your ceremony is in a house of worship, find out whether there are any attire guidelines you're required to follow, such as covering your shoulders or arms. WE CAN WORK AROUND ANY RESTRICTIONS.
COME PREPARED FOR YOUR CONSULTATION
BEFORE MEETING, BE SURE TO TRY ON DIFFERENT PIECES OFF THE RACK TO PIN DOWN THE SILHOUETTE AND SHAPE THAT MOST FLATTERS YOU. TAKING PICTURES OF THESE ON YOU IS ALSO A GREAT IDEA TO SHARE WITH ME. KEEP TRACK OF DETAILS AND ELEMENTS THAT REFLECT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THROUGH A PINTEREST BOARD OR COLLAGE TO SHARE WITH ME.
LIMIT YOUR GUESTS AT FITTINGS
With all this in mind, it is suggested to not bring guests to your muslin fittingS. If you decide to be accompanied by guest(s), please limit only one guest whose opinions are important to you. Your final appointment is the time I actually recommend you bring your loved ones along to share in the moment.
WEAR YOUR FINAL ACCESSORIES & UNDERGARMENT TO FITTINGS
I WILL TAKE YOUR ORIGINAL MEASUREMENTS AT THE FIRST CONSULTATION SO IT IS BEST TO WEAR SIMILAR UNDERGARMENTS TO THAT OF YOUR SPECIAL OCCASION. THE CORRECT HEELS SHOULD ALSO BE WORN TO ALL FINAL FITTINGS TO ENSURE LEGNTH IS EXACTLY AS YOU NEED. ALSO BRINGING ALL YOUR FINAL ACCESSORIES TO THE LAST FITTING WILL HELP YOU SEE THE COMPLETE LOOK WE CREATED.
INHALE. EXHALE.
